The Compression Engineer offers aerodynamic preliminary and detailed design responsibility and a team leadership opportunity towards the development of our next-generation commercial and military fans, boosters, and compressors and associated aerodynamic compressor technology. In this role, you will lead domestic US and global design teams in the design, analysis, and validation of components using tools such as CFD.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Aerodynamic design & leadership of domestic and global design teams to meet program goals for advanced turbomachinery compression components and technology.
• Apply advanced skills in preliminary and detailed aerodynamic design to provide technical oversight.
• Formulate, implement, and execute plans to achieve technical and project requirements, schedules, and contract commitment while collaborating with horizontal organizations.
• Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments as appropriate.
• Prime aerodynamic interface with internal customers & foster horizontal collaboration with multi-disciplinary organizations to develop next-generation compression components and associated advanced technology.
• Analysis of engine test data to validate component design versus technical requirements.
• Lead technical reviews.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor/coach team members across the organization.
• Leverage experience to support current commercial compression components – cost reduction, on-time delivery, manufacturing, and field issues.
• Support and drive the development and expansion of Compression Aero tools and processes related to design, analysis, test, and/or productivity.

Must haves:

Aerodynamics fundamentals Experience with Gridpro

Scripting with bash or python to help process calculation

Exp with 2d solvers, ability to do relevant hand calculations (CFX Solvers)

CFD meshing experience is a plus

Rate Range: $60/hour to $75/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
