Job Description

We are looking for an ambitious Cook to assist in the preparation of delicious dishes in the kitchen. You’ll perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes. You will be professional and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.

  Job Description: 

  1. General preparation work, deli, salad bar, pantry, banquet service, some line service.
  2. Have basic knife skills
  3. Ability to do basic cutting, chopping and assembly work common to most culinary areas Will require intermittent supervision by management or department head
  4. Can understand and follow basic recipes
  5. Has knowledge of basic safety procedures 
  6. Has knowledge and ability to use basic PPE (personal protective equipment) when required Suitable for banquet plate up and plate assembly
  7. Understands operation of most basic kitchen equipment
  8. Best suited for low or medium volume environments
  9. Able to work within a budgeted time frame
  10. Has ability to interact effectively with clientele
  11. Able to prepare salads, proportioned salads as illustrated or demonstrated
  12. Able to prepare most basic protein salads by recipe but will need guidance to prepare by rote Able to follow directions but will need directions
  13. Basic knowledge of equipment and smallware identification, storeroom procedures and issue procedures if used

Requirements 

  1. Have worked as a professional cook for a minimum of 2 years (not including fast food)
  2. Up to date Hepatitis A vaccinations records 
  3. Valid Driver's License and willing to travel to work in the St. Louis metro area.
