Electronics Technician II Location Norfolk, VA :

Position Summary:

Performs operations and maintenance on Fire Fighting and Damage Control training devices and support gear at the "O" (Organizational) level and assist with "I" (Intermediate) level.

  • Reports to the Shift Supervisor.

Experience:

  • Has demonstrated competence through satisfactory, progressive performance as a simulator technician.
  • Minimum of two (2) years training system, equipment or simulator maintenance experience on systems of comparable complexity to those on which the Electronic Technician will be working.
  • Has three (3) years requisite training system or simulation repair experience and has demonstrated experience and competence in some or all of the following areas: Previous maintenance or instructor experience on devices 19F1A Advanced Fire Fighting Trainer, 19F1B Advanced Fire Fighting Trainer, 19F3A Multipurpose Fire Fighting Trainer, 19F3B Basic Fire Fighter Trainer, 19F3C Multipurpose Fire Fighting Trainer, 19F4A Aircraft Fire Fighting Trainer , 19F5 Fire Fighting Trainer Recruit Basic, 19F6 Advanced Aviation Fire Fighting Trainer / Advanced Fire Fighting Trainer - Main Machinery, 20C28 Surface Damage Control Trainer and Damage Control Wet Trainer.

Education:

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Shall have graduated from a two (2) year electronic technician resident course at an accredited technical institute or have completed the factory or formal training on a comparable system.
  • Training systems, equipment or simulator maintenance experience and education may be substituted for the above requirements if deemed equivalent by the Government.
  • Two (2) years requisite simulation repair experience.
  • Shall have been certified in micro-miniature repair within the past 24 months by an organization recognized by the Government for such certifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains trainee, instructor, debrief and monitoring stations.
  • Maintains power control and distribution systems.
  • Device operator duties.
  • Fills CO2 and SCBA bottles as needed.
  • Stage and maintain TSG
  • Launder and Dry Fire Fighting Turnouts and additional clothing
  • Paint and Corrosion Control responsibilities as assigned
  • Instructor/student assistance.
  • Analyze discrepancies/determine corrective actions.
  • Isolate failed components.
  • Perform wiring/cabling repairs.
  • Perform electrical/mechanical adjustments.
  • Remove and replace failed components.
  • Assist in installation/checkout of modifications.
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Document all maintenance actions.
  • Janitorial Duties.
  • Perform software loading for mission setups.
  • Perform functional tests.
  • Perform depot level maintenance in central repair activity.
  • Perform daily operational readiness test.
  • Assist in pre/post training inspections.
  • Instruct and document progress in OJT program.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
