Job Title: Estimator Job Description The Estimator is a vital part of the team, responsible for program management and estimating activities for new customer orders generated by the Outside Sales Team. The role involves estimating based on customer's RFQs (Request for Quotations) and gathering necessary information for formal quotations, including drawings, sample parts, technical data, and material sources. Responsibilities + Communicate with all facets of the organization regarding new customer inquiries and program planning. + Manage programs for new products generated by the Outside Sales Team, coordinating material, labor, machine, and other resources through the appropriate process flow once a purchase order is issued. + Oversee new products from inception to implementation. + Review RFQs to determine material and labor requirements and prepare standard cost estimates, generally within a 24-hour turnaround. + Review customer drawings and specifications, preparing notes and exceptions to be communicated to customers on quotes. + Consult with the outside sales team, customers, vendors, manufacturing, accounting, quality, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. + Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) and Work Instructions to communicate customer requirements to manufacturing employees. + Communicate with Tool & Die Makers to obtain tooling cost estimates and provide necessary information to ensure tooling ordered matches assumptions made on the cost sheet. + Submit formal quotations to appropriate customer personnel such as purchasing agents, buyers, or project managers. + Assist in developing prints for manufacturing use where no customer print exists. + Continuously evaluate the estimating process to prevent low profitability parts and make recommendations to improve quote turnaround time and cost estimate accuracy. + Function as backup for Customer Service Representative during vacations or other absences. + Maintain a knowledge base of current materials and processes. Essential Skills + Proficiency in estimation and pricing within the manufacturing industry. + Experience with RFQs and sales administration. + 3-5 years of estimator experience in the manufacturing industry. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Ability to communicate effectively with various teams and individuals. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Work Environment This position is based onsite in Torrance, offering a collaborative work environment with opportunities to engage with various teams and departments. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
