MONROE AQUATIC AND FITNESS CENTER ATTENDANT Location Monroe, NC :

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK: Provides professional customer service and assistance to visitors and members of the Monroe Aquatics and Fitness Center. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the division supervisors This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, use of measuring devices, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, and noise. The worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS
Assisting customers with general customer service related tasks related to gymnasium and locker usage, facility equipment usage, and the preparation and serving of beverages in the juice bar and the Monroe Aquatics and Fitness Center. Assists members with program registration, questions, and concerns. Encourages the sale of new memberships through providing informative membership tours and answering questions. Processes membership applications and collects necessary membership fees. Enters membership data, program information, and fees into computer system. Handles the sale of resale items in the pro shop and juice bar. Greets customers as they utilize facility amenities; answers phone calls. Replenishes and restocks facility supplies. Opening and closing procedures, including cash drawer. Confirms membership status as members use their membership cards. Collects fees for program services. Ensures members are trained properly in the safe use of the cardiovascular and strength machines; ensures that members are utilizing gymnasium and locker rooms safely and within expected guidelines. Resolves conflicts and complaints in a positive and effective manner. Addresses reports of safety or repair issues. Responds to accidents and emergencies in a calm, efficient manner; manages the scene; communicates with emergency responders; completes incident forms. Ensures facility remains well maintained. Maintains a positive and enthusiastic relationship with customers and members. Performs related tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Some knowledge of the methods and practices of fitness centers including knowledge of the equipment and techniques; ability to professionally educate members on the rules and regulations of the fitness area; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and general public. General knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment; ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and strong customer service experience in retail or service sales.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic First Aid certifications or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months of employment. Possession of valid driver's license in the state of North Carolina, state identification card, or work permit. Visiting students can provide out of state driver license.
