Mortgage Field Service Inspector

Job Overview:
As a Mortgage Field Service Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting property inspections, evaluating property conditions, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Your role is crucial in providing critical information that impacts real estate transactions, refinancing processes, and mortgage underwriting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough property inspections, including interior and exterior assessments of residential, vacant lots, and commercial properties.
- Document the condition of properties through detailed reports, photographs, and measurements.
- Evaluate property compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as lender requirements.
- Identify and report on issues such as property damage, safety hazards, and maintenance needs.
- Communicate findings clearly and effectively to clients, lenders, and property owners.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections performed and follow-up actions taken.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including mortgage lenders, real estate agents, and property management companies.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and relevant regulations.
- Adhere to strict deadlines and manage time effectively to ensure timely completion of assignments.
- Utilize inspection-related software and tools for reporting and documentation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in property inspection, home appraisal, or a related field is a plus.
- Strong understanding of property valuation, mortgage processes, and real estate markets.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using smartphones, tablets, and other digital tools for reporting.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for traveling to inspection sites.
- Certification related to property inspection (such as FHA or HUD certification) is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Flexible work hours and the potential for remote work when not out in the field.
- Travel required to various property locations.
- Physical ability to perform inspections, including climbing stairs, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting equipment when necessary.
