**Position Overview:**
Responsible for accurate preparation and coding of accounts for billing. Knowledge of hospital contracts. Provides expeditious and assertive follow-up with all third party payors.

**JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES**
Assumes responsibility for all accounts within one or more pay classes.
Researches all information either electronically or by direct data entry, to complete the billing process in a timely manner.
Processes and distributes copies of billings as required.
Answers all inquiries regarding patient accounts.
Makes written and/or verbal inquiries to third party payors to collect patient accounts within established timeframes.
Resolves credit balance accounts in a timely manner.
Maintains professional interpersonal working relationships with managers, patients, visitors, co-workers, staff physicians and the general public.
**EDUCATION**
_Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma._
HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
**PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:**
1 year previous experience, preferably in a hospital business office.
**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**
Knowledge of medical/insurance billing procedures; including but not limited to Medicare.

Pay Range is $30.86 to $39.06 / hour
_The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
