ENPOINTE is a private, family owned, organization that has been in business for 40 years. We have 160 employees, with 2 facilities in the metro area, mailing almost 1 billion pieces of mail each year. We started as a traditional commercial printer that has emerged in to one of the largest digital powerhouses in the country. We still have the traditional iron for sheet feed up to 40” UV and a full and half web with all the finishing and die cutting to support this business. We took a large leap into variable digital sheet fed and recently invested in large format digital and variable ink jet web in our Brooklyn Park facility. Some of our customers are well known in retail, financial, manufacturing and book publishing. Summary The Finishing Perfect Binder Operator is responsible for the set-up, operation, and maintenance of perfect binding equipment used in the production of books, catalogs, manuals, and other bound materials. This role ensures that all jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while meeting production deadlines and safety requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Set up and operate perfect binding machines (e.g., Muller Martini, Horizon, Kolbus, or equivalent) according to job specifications.
- Review job tickets and verify materials such as covers, text blocks, glue type, and binding style.
- Adjust machine settings for book size, thickness, glue application, and trimming accuracy.
- Monitor production quality, making adjustments as needed to maintain proper binding alignment, glue adhesion, and trimming.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or quality issues to minimize downtime.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on binding and trimming equipment.
- Work closely with other production team members to ensure jobs flow smoothly through the finishing department.
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy before release.
- Record production data and maintain accurate documentation.
- Adhere to all safety and company policies, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
- 1–3 years of experience operating a perfect binder or similar finishing equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- Understanding of bindery operations and production workflows.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, layouts, and production instructions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills - Experience with additional finishing equipment (three-knife trimmer, stitcher, folder, or cutter).
- Knowledge of hot-melt and PUR glue systems.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance and continuous improvement practices.
- Basic computer or production system data entry skills.
Physical Requirements - Frequent Lifting 20lbs, walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, and working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting 50lbs, pulling, pushing, bending, reaching over shoulder, kneeling, climbing ladders, operating mechanical equipment, and operating motor vehicles.

Annual reviews thereafter.
