Position Description and Job Skill Set

Description of the job functions the contractor will be expected to perform.

• The Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), through the Mississippi Management and Reporting System (MMRS), is seeking to fill one (1) SAP BASIS Consultant position. This consultant will play a critical role in providing technical support and administration for the Mississippi Accountability System for Government Information and Collaboration (MAGIC), the State of Mississippi's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system based on SAP technologies.
• MAGIC serves as the central ERP solution for over 120 state agencies and is integral to the State's operations, supporting a wide range of business processes including financial management, procurement, grants management, and enterprise reporting. The financial, procurement, and grants management modules of MAGIC have been in full production since 2015 and represent a mature and mission-critical environment.
• In addition to maintaining and optimizing the current SAP on-premise infrastructure, the consultant will be instrumental in supporting the State's ongoing digital transformation initiative. This includes the migration of legacy systems to a modern, cloud-based architecture hosted on Microsoft Azure. The SAP BASIS Consultant will work across both environments, ensuring system stability, performance, security, and scalability as MAGIC continues to evolve.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Performing day-to-day SAP BASIS administration tasks, including system monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, patching, and upgrades.
• Supporting SAP systems hosted on-premise as well as those transitioning to or running within the Azure cloud platform.
• Collaborating with technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders to plan and execute system migrations, integrations, and cloud optimizations.
• Ensuring compliance with security standards, backup procedures, and disaster recovery requirements. Assisting with performance analysis and capacity planning to support growth and long-term sustainability.
• This position requires a high level of technical expertise in SAP BASIS administration, experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably Microsoft Azure), and a strong understanding of ERP systems in a public sector environment.

Required Skills/Experience

Provide the minimum required skills and/or experience the contractor must possess to qualify for this position. These requirements will be transferred to the Score Sheet and candidates without these requirements reflected on their resume will NOT be presented to the manager for consideration.

The following skills are required.

• Five years' experience with SAP BASIS administration and technical core tasks including SAP software installation, upgrade, support packages, patches, workload analysis, system error analysis, performance monitoring, and maintenance of multi-landscape environments.
• Two years' experience working with an SAP operational system for a Public Sector client.
• Two years' experience with Linux/DB2 and Windows/MSSQL.
• One year experience with Azure cloud computing platform.

Provide any skills/experience that would be helpful for the candidate to possess but not required. Examples: Previous supervisory experience, WebLogic experience helpful, etc.
