About Houston

ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors. 

 

By bringing many global functional groups together, the campus provides employees with the tools and capabilities needed today, and in the future, to achieve business objectives and accelerate the discovery of new resources, technologies and products. The campus is located in Spring, Texas, on 385 wooded acres immediately to the west of Interstate Highway 45 (I-45), at the intersection of I-45 and the Hardy Toll Road, approximately 25 miles from the cultural vibrancy of downtown Houston.

What you will do

• Lead the scoping, design, development, and deployment of AI/ML solutions focused on optimizing subsurface and well-related operations.
• Collaborate with data and machine learning engineers to operationalize models and ensure seamless integration with existing digital infrastructure.
• Apply domain knowledge and physical principles to improve model accuracy and reliability.
• Contribute to the growth of internal AI capabilities by sharing expertise and developing best practices.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to colleagues across teams.
• Work closely with team leads and subject matter experts to align on project priorities, strategy, and solution design.

What role will you play in the team

• Work on complex AI use cases from ideation and discovery through deployment and sustainment as part of integrated, enterprise-level teams.
• Collaborate with ExxonMobil subject matter experts to strengthen organizational capabilities in AI/ML.
• Support business teams in making impactful, data-driven decisions.

About you

Skills / Qualifications

• Over 5 years of professional experience in developing and deploying AI/ML solutions, with a strong background in applying these technologies to physical systems and engineering workflows.
• Deep expertise in algorithms related to at least one of the following domains: time series analysis, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, or agentic technology with the ability to understand underlying mathematics and develop novel algorithms.
• Proven track record of successfully developing and deploying multiple end-to-end AI/ML solutions in business environments.
• Proficient in Python and widely used ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
• Proven ability to uncover meaningful insights from complex datasets.
• Strong drive to hands-on test hypotheses and quickly validate assumptions through data.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills

• Experience in the energy industry, preferably with a focus on subsurface or well-related topics.
• Proficient in using the Databricks platform.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative Agile product team setting.
