Job Description and Duties

Provides technical and administrative leadership for all personnel in the Civil Engineering Section. Provides analysis of civil engineering features in Oroville Field Division and supervises field inspections to determine the continued suitable operation of SWP dams and civil structures.

Special Requirements

A high degree of public contact is required. Professional registration, with the California Department of Consumer Affairs-Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists, as a Civil Engineer. Must possess a valid California driver’s license.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Experience in inspection of dams, pipelines, hydraulic structures, or other water resource infrastructure. Experience in installing, calibrating, operating, or maintaining water measuring devices or dam safety instrumentation.  Project management experience, Supervisory experience, Excellent organizational skills, Dam safety or Emergency response experience.  Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, computer knowledge in various programs, and strong interpersonal skills preferred.
