Life in Detroit

Detroit, commonly known and referred to as the Motor City, is busting at the seams with culture and life. It's diverse, rich in history, famous for Motown music, and dynamic! The city's rich musical and industrial heritage is more alive than ever before, mingling with an ever-expanding array of world-class museums, performing arts, events, and international cuisine. For outdoor enthusiasts, enjoy 200 miles of public hiking trails, 416 lakes 9 state parks in southeast Michigan, and Belle Isle Park, the nation's largest city park. One fun fact about Detroit is that it's home to the first stretch of paved road in the U.S.! In 1909, a mile of Woodward Avenue was paved with concrete, marking the beginning of modern road infrastructure in America. This was done to accommodate the increasing number of automobiles, especially since Detroit was the center of the booming car industry with companies like Ford and General Motors. Detroit will surprise you with all of its trends, events, and excitement!
