POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Payroll Accounting Specialist is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, and reconciliation of payroll as a primary function and supports the accounting team in various administrative duties as a secondary function.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete assigned work safely and efficiently with or without direct supervision
• Process regular payroll on a bi-weekly basis, as well as bonuses and off-cycle checks when necessary
• Review the computation of pay and deductions, including taxes, for accuracy
• Resolve inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting
• Process and monitor wage garnishments and other orders that impact pay
• Keep informed of payroll processing system and changes in wage/tax laws and communicate changes as appropriate
• Ensure timely and accurate filing of necessary payroll and business taxes
• Promote cost controls and efficiency throughout the business
• Assist with general ledger accounting; prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end close process, quarterly audits and quarterly financial templates
• Assist with accounts payable/receivable as needed
• Complete all banking entries in SAP and bank reconciliations
• All other duties assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Finance, preferred.

• 2-4 years' experience in payroll processing, preferred .

• CPP designation, preferred .
• Demonstrated ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), required .
• Familiar with ADP Workforce Now and Time & Attendance, preferred .
• Demonstrated ability to proficiently use SAP, preferred.
• Working knowledge of Nevada wage and hour laws and state and federal tax laws, required.
• Strong understanding of Banking Processes, required.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time, required .

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds, required.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently with minimal supervision, required .
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, required .
• Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of the position, required,
