Job Description and Duties

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by developing and enhancing the CalCONNECT platform, which is used for case investigation and contact tracing in California.

Under the general direction of the Research Scientist Manager of the CalCONNECT Branch, the incumbent leverages advanced technical expertise to test and improve data exchanges, ensuring seamless interoperability between the CalCONNECT platform and other infectious disease data systems. The role involves conducting independent and high-level business analysis of program operations and workflows, assisting in the development of scope and specifications for system updates, and performing user acceptance testing to implement changes effectively.

Educational Pay Differential

In accordance with California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) policy, candidates appointed to this position may be eligible for an  educational pay differential of 2% for a qualifying Master’s degree or 3% for a qualifying Doctoral degree . The applicable percentage is based on the highest qualifying degree and the education pattern used to meet the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for the classification.

Candidates must provide  official transcripts or a copy of the degree to verify eligibility.
